Jennifer Esposito has voiced her opinion again on CBS' decision to put her on medical leave from Blue Bloods due to her Celiac disease.
The actress collapsed twice on set and her doctor advised she take on a lesser workload but she was ordered to go on medical leave by the network, reports E! News.
"Look, they have a job that they need done. I get it. You don't think I can do it in the two or three days that I am offering in that…work space of eight days? Then I get it, you have to replace me. But that's not what happened. What happened was ugliness," Esposito was quoted by E! News from an interview she did on Fox News' FOX Files.
Esposito is an advocate for those suffering from Celiac disease, which is an autoimmune disease of the small intestine, and is now banned from taking on other roles and apparently hasn't received the salary she is owed, according to Us Weekly.
"So many things of injustice that happen in this business. It's what you sign up for….This, though, is something that is not about me, I feel. This is about a disease that people don't understand. And what went on [here], it makes me sick," the actress said.
CBS has not commented on her recent statements but back in October the network released a statement to E! News saying, "Jennifer has informed us that she is only available to work on a very limited part-time schedule. As a result, she's unable to perform the demands of her role and we regretfully had to put her character on a leave of absence. She is a wonderfully talented actress and we hope that she will be able to return at some point in the future."
Esposito's character Detective Jackie Curatola has been absent from Blue Bloods since October. And although she cannot take on other roles, E! News reports that she is allowed to do film or stage work and appear on a cable series as long as it doesn't air in the same time slot as Blue Bloods.
