It's not unusual for successful actors to take on other roles in Hollywood like writing or directing, so it's no surprise that Tom Hiddleston took interest in getting behind the camera for Thor: The Dark World.

The actor, who plays Marvel villain Loki, admitted that he approached Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige about the possibility of directing the sequel to 2011's Thor, reports FansShare. Even though he didn't get the job he's still up for directing in the future.

"Yes, I do. I did ask, half-jokingly, Kevin Feige about directing 'Thor 2' and he said, 'Do you have something to show me?' I said 'no.' He said, 'If you made something and showed me, I might consider it.' But it's better for the world that he said no. It would be such a responsibility, but I think I'd enjoy it," Hiddleston told Empire magazine, according to WorstPreviews.

It was Alan Taylor, who has worked on Game of Thrones, that took over in the director's chair after Kenneth Branagh, who directed Thor.

Thor: The Dark World is set to be released on November 8, 2013.
