Ned Wertimer, known for his role as Ralph the Doorman on The Jeffersons, passed away at the age of 89.

Wertimer's manager Brad Lemack confirmed the actor passed away on January 2 at the Sherman Village Health Care Center outside of Los Angeles from complications following a fall in his Burbank home in late November, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

His character doorman Ralph Hart was originally introduced on a 1975 episode of All in the Family titled “The Jeffersons Move on Up." Ralph was always looking for tips on The Jeffersons at the luxury high-rise Colby East building in Manhattan and appeared in 51 of the 253 episodes of the sitcom.

Wertimer also took on parts in series like The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Debbie Reynolds Show and McMillan & Wife, reports The Huffington Post. He had roles in films like Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, The Impossible Years, The Strongest Man in the World, The Pack, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and played stockbroker Fred Cates in Lucille Ball’s Mame.

Wertimer is survived by his wife, his brother's wife and his niece and three nephews.
