TNT announced today that its Dallas reboot has earned a third season.

The network said today that the show’s third season will feature 15 new episodes that will air in early 2014. Dallas averaged 3.8 million total viewers, 1.6 million viewers in the 24-54 demographic and 1.4 million in the 18-49 demo during its second season.

In the middle of the show’s second season, veteran actor Larry Hagman died at age 81. Hagman played J.R. Ewing. Patrick Duffy’s Bobby Ewing character is now the oldest member of the family. Linda Gray, Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe and Jordana Brewster also star.

Dallas has built a passionately loyal following with its expertly woven storylines, clever twists and turns, and numerous outstanding performances by a cast that spans generations,” Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and TCM, said in a statement. “Although we said goodbye to Larry Hagman and his iconic character J.R. Ewing this year, Dallas has many more stories left to tell, and the Ewing clan will continue to honor J.R.’s memory by keeping its audience surprised and delighted.”

According to Deadline, TNT hasn’t made a decision on Monday Mornings or Southland, but a decision will likely come by May 15, when the network has its upfront presentation. The network will also announce new shows soon and Michael Bay’s The Last Ship is expected to be one of them.
