CNN’s new morning show has got a name and a premiere date. The news network announced today that the show anchored by Chris Cuomo and Kate Bolduan will be called New Day.
The show was first announced last month, with the network confirming that KTLA veteran Michaela Pereira would join as the news anchor.
In a statement posted today, CNN, which is now run by former NBCUniversal executive Jeff Zucker, said that the show will premiere on Monday, June 10 starting at 6 a.m. The show will run to 9 a.m. and will be preceded by Early Day, an hour-long show anchored by John Berman and Zoraida Sambolin.
Cuomo joined CNN after leaving ABC News’ 20/20 and has covered the Boston Bombings, the election of the new Pope and other breaking news stories for CNN. Bolduan is a CNN veteran who co-anchored The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer. Pereira was at KTLA for nine years and co-anchored KTLA Morning News.
Since joining CNN, Zucker has overseen a major overhaul as the network tries to reclaim lost viewers. The network was recently hammered for its inaccurate reporting while covering the Boston bombings and was even targeted by President Obama at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
