Elton John is apologizing for comments made about Madonna in 2002. The Grammy Award winning singer explains that he has since buried the hatched with the “Music” singer following a decade of back-and-forth bashing.
John sat down with Extra where he explained that the feud between he and Madge is officially over.
“We were in a restaurant in France in the summertime. She came in, and I sent over a note. She was very gracious,” he explains. “I apologized profusely because what I said should never have appeared in public. She accepted our apology, and then we bought her dinner. That's over and done with.”
John notes that Madonna accepted his apology without hesitation, “She was fantastic. She was just like, ‘Okay, let’s get a move on.’”
Husband David Furnish, who also had his fair share of digs at the award winning artist, added, “We don’t believe in putting negativity out in the world, both of us were embarrassed when all that stuff came out.”
John first lashed out at Madonna in 2002 when he called her song for Die Another Day “the worst Bond tune ever,” New York Daily News reports.
Just last year he took another shot at Madonna calling her a ”fairground stripper” after attention was drawn to her MDNA tour. At the time he also stated that her “career was over.”
Prior to her 2012 Super Bowl performance the “Rocket Man” slammed, ”make sure you lip-sync good.
Although thankful for John’s apology, Madonna sounded off during one of her performances in 2012 noting that she had already forgiven the legendary singer.
