Wednesday was a quiet night, even with the American Idol performance finale. While more viewers tuned in compared to the previous week, but was significantly down from last year’s finale.

Fox averaged 9.3 million viewers on the night and a 2.6 18-49 rating, helping the network win the night in both categories. Idol’s one-hour episode had 11.6 million viewers and a 2.8 18-49 rating. While it was up 16 percent from last week, The Hollywood Reporter notes that this was a huge drop from the 4.2 key demo rating last year’s performance finale earned.

So You Think You Can Dance was also up from the Tuesday premiere, drawing 7.1 million viewers and a 2.3 18-49 rating, reports The Wrap.

CBS came in second with 7.9 million viewers and a 1.9 18-49 rating for the night. After 2 Broke Girls repeats, Criminal Minds scored 10.3 million viewers and a 2.7 18-49 rating. CSI was down to 9.6 million viewers and a 2.0 18-49 rating for its season finale.

According to HitFix, ABC finished third with 6.37 million viewers and a 2.0 18-49 rating. The Middle kicked things off with 6.6 million viewers and a 1.9 18-49 rating, while Family Tools had 4.5 million and a 1.2. Modern Family was up a bit to 9.7 million viewers and a 3.5 18-49 rating (beating Idol) and How To Live With Your ParentS scored 6.16 million viewers and a 2.0 18-49 rating.

NBC was in fourth with 6.33 million viewers and a 1.6 18-49 rating. Dateline had 5.78 million viewers and a 1.3 18-49 rating, while Law & Order: SVU had 6.35 million and a 1.5 rating. Chicago Fire finished the night with 6.87 million viewers and a 1.9 18-49 rating.

Over at The CW, the Arrow finale had 2.65 million viewers and a 0.9 18-49 rating, while Supernatural had 2.36 million and the same rating. Both shows have been renewed.
