Steve Forrest, who starred on the TV series S.W.A.T., has died at age 87.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that he died on May 18 with his family at his side in Thousand Oaks, California.

Forrest’s career spanned 60 years, but he is best known for playing Lt. Dan “Hondo” Harrelson on ABC’s S.W.A.T., which lasted from February 1975 to April 1976, with just 37 episodes. Still, the series has endured thanks to fans and the famous line “Let’s roll!” It was even turned into a film in 2003 with Samuel L. Jackson. Forrest made a cameo appearance in the movie, which was his last Hollywood role.

Forrest actually started his career in films, notes TV Guide and won a Golden Globe in 1953 for New Star of the Year for So Big with Jane Wyman. He appeared in countless classic shows from the 1950s, including Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Playhouse 90 and Lux Video Theater. He also appeared on the classic Western shows The Virginian, Bonanza and Gunsmoke. Forrest also worked in the U.K., starring on the BBC’s The Baron in the ‘60s.

Forrest later made appearances on Dallas, L.A. Law and Columbo.

He is survived by his wife, Christine, sons Michael, Forrest and Stephen and four grandchildren.
