Jeanne Cooper starred on CBS’ The Young and The Restless for nearly 40 years and her death this week crushed fans of the show. To celebrate her life and legacy, CBS said today that a special tribute will air later this month.

CBS and Y&R’s tribute show will air on Tuesday, May 28 and 12:30 p.m. eastern time and at 11:00 a.m. pacific. The cast and production crew are going to get together next week to film the show for Cooper, who played Katherine Chancellor since the show began in 1974.

“Jeanne Cooper was a legend and we want to give her the tribute she deserves,” Angelica McDaniel, Senior Vice President, Daytime CBS, said in a statement. “he cast will honor their longtime friend, family member and co-worker in the greatest way possible, as we celebrate her life and vibrant spirit and share it with the audience who loved her as much as we did.”

The special episode will include cast members discussing their favorite memories of working with Cooper on and off the set. An interview with cooper that was filmed to celebrate Y&R’s 40th anniversary will also be included.

Cooper died earlier this week at the age of 84. She had been in the hospital lately, but continued to play the role. Her death was confirmed by her son, actor Corbin Bernsen. She won a Daytime Emmy for playing Katherine Chancellor in 2008.
