Nominations for the 40th Annual Daytime Emmys were revealed Wednesday morning. CBS led the pack with a total of 50 noms, including 23 for The Young and the Restless. ABC came in a close second with 38 total noms with General Hospital picking up 19, while NBC’s Days of our Lives garnered 17 noms, the most the show has ever earned.

One Life to Live, which was eligible for the nine episodes broadcast on ABC before its broadcast television finale in January 2012, picked up three noms. The show was nominated for "Outstanding Writing Team" and the night's biggest honor, "Outstanding Drama Series," notes SoapCentral.

This is also a year of first as all five soap opera which were nominated in the “Outstanding Drama Series” category and eight actors received their first ever Emmy nominations.

"This is the first year that all five soaps have been nominated. Because of their initial scores -- they were just so close -- this is the tightest race ever," Good Morning America weatherman Sam Champion announced in a statement during the live announcement of the nominations.

CBS’ The Bold & the Beautiful's Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Forrester) is one of the eight actors to receive her first ever Emmy nom. In addition, Kristen Alderson, who from 1998 to 2012, played Starr Manning on ABC’S One Life to Live received her first Emmy nom but not for her work on OLTL but for her work on General Hospital after her character was transplanted there following OLTL's cancellation.

It’s also going to be a tight race in the “Outstanding Lead Actor” category with Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott, The Young and the Restless,) Doug Davidson (Paul Williams, The Young and the Restless,) Michael Muhney (Adam Newman, The Young and the Restless) and Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake, General Hospital) all up for the statuette. Notably absent from the list is General Hospital's Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer,) who has won the most “Outstanding Lead Actor” Emmys in history, but this year the actor chose to not enter his name for Emmy consideration.

As for other noms, PBS picked up 44 noms and Nickelodeon walked away with 36. The Ellen DeGeneres Show leads the talk show list with 10 noms, and the talk show host nominees include Anderson Cooper, Steve Harvey, Ricki Lake, Dr. Mehmet Oz and Rachael Ray. For top entertainment talk show honors, Ellen will be up against CBS's The Talk, ABC's The View and CBS’s Live with Kelly and Michael.

CBS Sunday Morning will compete with ABC's Good Morning America and NBC's Today for top morning program. Plus, Monty Hall of Let's Make a Deal and Bob Stewart of To Tell the Truth and Password will be honored with lifetime achievement awards at this year's gala, notes CBS News.
