New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez, the highest paid athlete in the four major sports, has sold his Miami mansion for $30 million.
ESPN has confirmed that Rodriguez made a $15 million profit on the deal. He bought the land in 2010 for $7.4 million and then made his built the 54,000-square-foot mansion using his own construction company, Newport Property Construction. It took 11 months to finish and features 11 bathrooms, European white oak flooring, a zen garden and a rooftop deck. The back features glass windows that a person could adjust to walk right outdoors. It cost $7.6 million to complete.
According to The Huffington Post, ONE Sotheby’s International Realty confirmed the sale. “Alex’s home, with its stunning all glass design, natural coral rock and sleek white oaks floors, is a shining example of the modern architectural style that is very much in vogue today among affluent buyers,” the company stated.
Rodriguez, who hasn’t played a game this season, had originally tried to sell it for $38 million in 2012, but in December, he took it off the market without getting an offer. Whoever moved in will get to call Matt Damon, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade neighbors.
The third baseman had surgery on his left hip in January and is rehabbing in Tampa. The team hopes he will be back by the All-Star break.
