Amanda Bynes was released today from police custody today without bail.
Former Nickelodeon child-to-adulthood star was arrested in Midtown Manhattan after an employee of her 47th street high-rise apartment building recognized Bynes smoking marijuana in the lobby and reported her to police authorities at approximately 7:40 p.m., according to the LA Times. An officer was dispatched to Bynes’ apartment to further investigate the situation immediately after. When he arrived at her room, Bynes was noticed under the influence and her apartment reeked of marijuana.
A police source commented, "They knocked on the door. She answered after about five minutes and invited them in,” a police source said. “They smelled marijuana and there was smoke. They saw the bong — it was in plain view. It looks like she realized they saw it so she took it and threw it out the window,” as recorded by the NY Daily News. Fortunately, the bong did not hit anyone on the ground.
The police officer live on the scene during the incident commented as well, "I observed [Amanda] grab said bong, run to the westbound-facing window, and throw it out the window where numerous pedestrians were walking on the 8 Avenue and West 47 Street sidewalks below.”
Bynes had denied throwing anything out her window, and reiterated the same in court by her lawyer Andrew Friedman as well. She spent last night in jail, refusing media attention, and was released of her own recognizance today, according to Fox News. She is scheduled to appear in court again on July 9.
