Amazon finally announced today which of its pilots would get picked up to series. Two live action comedies got the good news, while three children’s shows will also continue on.
The Internet retail giant launched the pilots last month and chose the winners based on customer feedback. There were eight live-action comedies along with four animated shows targeted at children.
Amazon announced today that Alpha House with John Goodman and Betas were the two pilots that received the best feedback. The children’s shows that got picked up are Tumbeleaf, Annebots and Creative Galaxy.
Alpha House, which featured a cameo from Bill Murray in the pilot, is about four experienced senators who share a house in Washington, DC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show also stars Matt Molloy, Clark Johnson and Mark Consuelos. It was created by Doonesbury’s Garry Trudeau.
Betas features Ed Begley Jr. and was written by Evan Endicott and Josh Stoddard. It’s set in Silicon Valley and also features Jon Daly, Joe Dinicol, Margo Harshman, Charlie Saxton and Karan Soni star. Betas is directed by Michael Lehmann.
The Wrap reports that the new episodes will appear in 2014 and will be exclusive to Amazon Prime users. The membership costs $79 a year and also includes two-day free shipping.
One of the pilots that didn't get picked up was a series adaptation of Zombieland. The show's co-creator, Rhett Reese, said on Twitter that fans had "successfully hated it out of existence."
