Aretha Franklin was forced by her doctors to cancel an upcoming performance this month, she revealed on her Facebook page.
The 71 year old singer’s spokesperson wrote in lengthy post that she will be withdrawing from performing at Foxwoods Resort & Casino and with Members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Janelle Monae will take over for her. The performance on Monday will mark the 24th annual Corporate Night.
The statement would only say Franklin was cancelling due to “doctor’s recommendation for treatment.” It also said “Janelle Monáe has graciously agreed to perform for this special performance.”
In 2010, it was rumored that Franklin had pancreatic cancer, but she told Access Hollywood that was not the case.
She wouldn’t reveal what she was suffering from but said she had pain in her side that "was so hard it almost brought me to my knees." She also revealed the doctor saying the surgery she underwent would “add 15 to 20 more years to your life.'"
