Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter will release a memoir this September, outlining his past problems with substance abuse and some of the successes and tragedies in his life.

The book is called Facing the Music and Living to Talk About It and it will be distributed by Bird Street Books. He’s also currently working on his eighth studio album with his boy band, called In a World Like This.

The AP reports that it will be both a self-help book and an autobiography, with Carter being the first in the Backstreet Boys to release one.

Carter’s younger brother, Aaron, was also in the public eye and his sister, Leslie, died last year.

According to E! Online, there were rumors Carter was going to shoot a reality show with his fiancé, Lauren Kitt, that he would both star in and executive produce, but his rep said there will be “no reality show.”

In a World Like This comes on July 30. The Backstreet Boys are embarking on a 20th anniversary tour with DJ Pauly D and singer Jesse McCartney, starting in August.
