Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner teamed up to talk about the Argo director’s Oscar speech, during which he referred to their marriage as “work,” for the opening monologue of Saturday Night Live last night.

The couple has been married for over seven years and have three children together, and they made it clear that their marriage was not on the rocks despite Affleck’s admission that they have to work at it.

"You may remember that in my speech, I thanked my wife, while also saying that the essence of marriage is work," Affleck, 40, said, Us Magazine notes.

He joked some "uncharitable souls" compared that word to "manual labor." He went on to say, “That's not it. You define what's important to you by what you dedicate your time to."

Affleck then welcomed his wife on stage with him, and she shared that that she wasn’t too happy he decided to “share it live to a billion people.” She was asked what word she would use to describe their marriage and she said "Gift! I would have said, 'Thank you to my wife, our marriage is a gift!'"

They then ended it with Affleck telling her how he really wanted to end the speech, saying "I couldn't do any of the things I do without your support. You're my angel, my life, my world," which he was reading off of a cue card, NY Post reports.
