Beyonce’s father and former manager, Mathew Knowles, owes the IRS $1.2 million in back taxes and a lien has just been filed against him.
Knowles allegedly didn’t pay taxes in 2010, 2011 or 2012 and he’s being issued to pay what he owes.
TMZ reports that during the year 2010 and part of 2011 he was still managing his daughter, Beyonce, and raking in all sorts of cash. He also has income coming in from his own record label and other projects.
Beyonce opened up about her relationship with her dad in her HBO documentary Life is But a Dream saying “I’m feeling so very empty because of the relationship with my dad. And I’m so fragile at this point and I feel like my soul has been tarnished.”
He also commented on ending their business relationship, previously saying “This was not a normal ending of a business agreement. This was a dad and a daughter and it was incredibly painful and it had some difficulties. But I try to always have a positive mind about things,” Vibe reports.
According to legal documents, Knowles owes $485,575.95 for the year 2010 and $728,004.89 for the year after that.
