Today’s pilot pickups at NBC gives Blair Underwood another shot on TV and gives Chicago Fire’s spin-off the green light.
Underwood, who starred in NBC’s short-lived The Event, stars in Ironside, the remake of the 1960’s series that starred Raymond Burr. According to EW, Underwood will star as a wheelchair-bound detective. The producing team includes Michael Caleo, David Semel, Teri Weinberg, John Davis and Jon Fox.
Chicago Fire fans first started hearing about a potential spin-off in March and now that is coming to fruition. THR reports that Chicago PD will focus on the Chicago police force. Chicago Fire is only in its first season at the moment and the PD pilot will air as a back-door pilot later this season.
The third pilot pickup for Friday is the comedy Undatable, which stars Chris D'Elia, who starred on the now-cancelled Whitney. Undatable comes from Bill Lawrence (Cougar Town), whose Surviving Jack got picked up at Fox.
On Thursday, NBC picked up Crisis, Believe, Sean Saves The World, About A Boy and The Family Guide. The network also has Michael J. Fox’s comedy set for next season.
