Brad Pitt surprised a crowd of World War Z early viewers in Hoboken, New Jersey when the star appeared on stage to introduce the film.

Access Hollywood reports that Pitt spoke to the eager crowd, who were able to see the screening nearly one month ahead of its June 21 scheduled release, saying, “Thank you all for coming out...I know it’s late, and we really appreciate it…Today we came out to show the film for the people we made it for – our fans!”

Continuing Pitt explained, “We said, ‘Well, there’s no other place better than Jersey!’” he said. “We’ve got T-shirts for everyone, and we’ve got a massive film for you.” The 49-year-old actor plays Gerry Lane, a man hired to help aide humanity against a zombie apocalypse.

“It’s epic, it’s scary as hell, and I guarantee you it’s the most intense thing you’re gonna see all summer,” the actor boasts.
