More information is coming out from officials on the death of Kris Kross rapper Chris Kelly, who died Wednesday afternoon in Atlanta at age 34. According to a police report the media has obtained, Kelly’s mother, Donna Kelly Pratte, told police that he took a mix of heroin and cocaine the night before his death.

According to TMZ, paramedics arrived at Kelly’s home Wednesday afternoon after his mother called 911. He was unresponsive and showed “no life signs.” When they could not revive him at his home, they took him to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

MTV News notes that Pratte, who is identified as a “close friend” for an unknown reason, had taken a mix of heroin and cocaine Tuesday night. She took Kelly home to “recover from his drug use and [that he] had done this several times in the past,” according to the police report. Pratte and Kelly’s uncle also told police that he had an “extensive history of drug use.”

Pratte said that before Kelly passed out and she called 911, he had been complaining of being nauseous.

"It appears it may have been a possible drug overdose,” Cpl. Kay Lester, spokeswoman for the Fulton County police, confirmed to the AP.

Kris Kross was known for the hit “Jump” and their debut album, Totally Krossed Out. The group was made up of Kelly, known as “Mac Daddy,” and Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith. Kelly’s mother did issue a statement, calling him “kind, generous and fun-loving life of the party.”
