The Voice coach Christina Aguilera is set to make her return for the fifth season of the hit singing competition.
A source close to the situation tells USA Today that Aguilera is set to make her return while Cee Lo Green’s return is still in discussion. Both Aguilera and Green took a break the show last season to promote their upcoming musical projects; Shakira and Usher worked as replacements during their absence.
Executive producer Mark Burnett explained at the time that he expected the judges to take off from time-to-time as they are working recording artists.
"We are not there yet, but working toward it," an executive tells The Wrap of Green’s return.
Aguilera has signed a $12.5 million contract for season 5, during season 4 she brought in an estimated $17 million. The source notes that Green will not make nearly as much as Aguilera when his contract is officially signed.
Since adding Shakira and Usher to the competition, the show has done well seeing a continued strength in ratings. It is unclear who Aguilera will replace and if both guests replacements will be asked to leave.
