After binge-watching all 15 episodes of Arrested Development, the reviews have been rolling in from all the critics ready to speak on the popular comedy show that premiered on Netflix yesterday.
According to CNN, the critics were generally a little dissatisfied. Poor Gob.
Some praised show creator Mitch Hurwitz for continuing the Arrested legacy while others thought he failed to execute his ideas correctly.
Variety’s review compared the show to a reunion special, calling it a “numbing burden.”
Hollywood Reporter said the show’s revival was brilliant even after a slow start.
Daniel Fienberg from Hit Fix said, “Out of 15 episodes, there are four or five episodes I'd put in the "A" range. There were two or three episodes I'd put in the "C" range. And the majority of the episodes were variably uneven, hardly devoid of brilliance and the sort of hilarity that most currently running shows can't even approach, but usually diluted to an infuriating degree by the structure and lack of structure of the endeavor.”
Calling it a joyous return, LA Times said each episode gets better as context is built.
TV.Com said the episodes seem funnier and better directed after watching them for a second time.
What do you think of all the reviews?
