X Factor mentor Demi Lovato sat down with Company magazine where she clarified reports that she and One Directions’ Niall Horan were a couple as well as opening up about her realization of who her true friends were after exiting rehab in 2010.
"A couple of months before I went to rehab, I had a birthday party and there were a couple of hundred people there,” Lovato tells the magazine. "It was full of people who I considered my closest friends. When I turned my phone on after being in rehab for three months, I expected lots of text messages and phone calls. I had four texts."
Lavota, who dons the cover of Company’s June issue, offered clarification to rumors that she and Horan were once hot and heavy.
“I'm so tired of that! It never happened," Lovato explains as quoted by MTV. "Niall's a really sweet guy and I definitely consider him a friend, but it's never crossed that line... He's a sweet kid and we have an understanding, but we're just friends."
Despite her personal struggles, in addition to struggles with drug abuse, the Disney starlet is back on top and is prepping for the release of her fourth studio album DEMI, which hits shelves on May 14.
The “Give Your Heart A Break” singer is also confirmed to return to her X Factor mentoring seat alongside Simon Cowell. “He's a grump. An old fart," Lovato tells Company of her coshost. "But he has a heart that nobody gets to see. If he walked into this room, he'd treat everybody the same — he shakes everyone's hand."
