Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs sent out tweets late Wednesday that confused some people. Was the rapper really going to star on PBS’ Downton Abbey? Even the show’s representatives had to say that he didn’t make an appearance on the show. However, the joke was on everyone, since it was really promotion for a hilarious Funny Or Die.com spoof Diddy filmed.

In the spoof, Diddy says that he was shocked by the news that the show recently cast its first black actor. Diddy wondered how that could be, since he’s been playing Lord Wilcott, the new owner of Downtown Abbey since the show started!

Of course, the character has been ignored by everyone during the show, but Lord Wilcott loves Downtown Abbey! (Except in the one moment where he hates it there.)

Diddy says that fans of the show need to check out the Lord Wilcott edition of season one, since that’s the only way to see his underappreciated performance.

To promote the spoof, Diddy tweeted that he was actually appearing on Downton Abbey and later posted a picture on Instagram of him in costume. He even changed his profile pic on both social networks to the Downton Abbey logo.

While Downtown Diddy is funny, the jury’s still out on how well it stands up agaisnt Breaking Downton.
