Lil Wayne released a public letter of apology to Emmett Till’s family for rapping about him in a song he did with Future.

In it, he writes “As a father myself, I cannot imagine the pain that your family has had to endure,” among other apologetic statements. The controversial line was “Beat that p---y up like Emmett Till," which referenced Til, 14, who was brutally murdered in 1955 for whistling at a white woman in Mississippi.

But his statements weren’t enough for the Till family, who says his letter “falls short.”

The Till family representative, Airickca Gordon-Taylor, and the Executive Director of the Mamie Till Mobley Memorial Foundation, told TMZ that there was no direct apology.

"While it’s commendable that he has vowed to respect the legacy of Emmett Till and his memory to ‘not use or reference Emmett Till or the Till family in his music,' this statement falls short of an apology, as none is mentioned,” said Gordon-Taylor.

As we reported yesterday, Lil Wayne was hospitalized again this week for a seizure.
