Actor Zach Galifianakis was expected to go to the Hangover Part III premiere in Los Angeles last night with a very special woman in his life - Elizabeth “Mimi” Haist, an 87-year-old woman he saved from homelessness and has been friends with ever since.

According to The New York Daily News, Galifianakis met Haist 20 years ago, when she was working in a laundromat in Los Angeles. Two years ago, he discovered that she was homeless, so helped her move into an apartment and pay the rent. He even introduced her to Renee Zellweger, who helped get furniture for Haist.

“I’m looking forward to it, I like the excitement of it,” she told the Daily News about going to another premiere with Galifianakis. She has gone to premieres with him before, including the events for The Hangover Part II and The Campaign.

“If he’s in town, he takes me. Otherwise he lets me take a friend,” she told the paper. “I dress up nice and a friend helps me with my makeup. It’s fun, not something I’ve ever dreamed I’d experience. The limo takes me home afterwards.”

Unfortunately, a Warner Bros. rep told E! News just before the event that she was not going to be Galifianakis’ date. The rep could not confirm if Haist would go to the premiere without Galifianakis, though.

The Hangover Part III is the final film in the trilogy and hits theaters on Friday.
