The episode began with a security guard pursuing two trespassers. As he was giving chase, he fell into an open grave and was subsequently shot and killed by the trespassers.
In the next scene, Danno and Grace awaited Gabby at the airport, but she sent a text saying she would not make it.
The next day, Five-0 was called to the scene of the security guard’s death. The guard’s name was Chad Torres. And the open grave he fell into was not the only one at the scene. There were numerous open graves all around the team. Max also found the skeletal remains of a thumb, which meant the graves probably had occupants that were stolen from the scene.
Upon investigation, the team learned that this was most likely a Yakuza burial ground. The deceased were identified as informants against the Yakuza. They were most likely dug up before a construction team was to begin work on a rail passing through.
As the team discussed their findings, Catherine brought news to McGarrett about his mother, who had been caught on camera when she hacked into the FBI’s database at a WiFi hot spot.
When McGarrett paid his mother a visit, he found two retired Navy SEALs at her house and discovered the three of them had plans to steal back the microfiche taken from Doris McGarrett’s house in a past episode. They had lifted a fingerprint from Doris’ house, and the print belonged to a hacker hired by Tyler Cain, who was about to be appointed the Director of National Intelligence. Cain most likely needed the microfiche for leverage. It contained the names of ex-operatives.
Meanwhile, at headquarters, Chin, Danno, and Kono learned that Michael Noshimuri was a suspect in at least two murder investigations involving the missing bodies. Chin and Danno decided to pay Michael a visit, but he wouldn’t admit anything to them.
Adam told Kono he knew nothing about the bodies, and she believed him, until she overheard him, through his cloned phone, as he told someone he just had a visit from Five-0.
Kono called Fong and had the number pinged.
Going to the site of the ping, she found the missing bodies in barrels in a warehouse. Two men appeared. There was a shootout, and Kono was shot.
Danno and McGarrett came on scene and compared tire tracks and caliber ID’s to information they previously had. There was a match.
In the next scene, McGarrett arrived at his mother’s house and informed her that he would be going with she and the retired SEALs to retrieve the microfiche.
As Kono lay in the hospital, she got a visit from Adam, who was notified of her injury by Chin Ho. When a nurse came to get her for a CAT scan, Adam heard the cloned phone ring at the same time as his phone.
As McGarrett and company broke into the First Honolulu Tower, an unexpected alarm went off, and McGarrett and his mother were separated. She was subsequently captured by Cain’s men.
Cain found her radio and sent a message that she would be killed if the person on the other end did not meet them in his office in five minutes.
McGarrett obliged and, not liking where the conversation was going, dropped the microfiche into a burning trash can.
Cain had no choice but to release McGarrett and his mother.
In the elevator, leaving the building, McGarrett, using a magic trick his mother taught him, showed her the still existing microfiche.
The episode ended when Max came to Five-0 headquarters and informed Danny and McGarrett that evidence he found showed a bullet that killed at least one of the informants had come from Kono’s gun.
