Jennifer Lopez is answering the question everyone wants to know about her future as an American Idol judge, now that it this past season’s judges’ fate are all up in the air.

Randy Jackson confirmed he will not be back next season, and many were hoping that Lopez would step in. It was also rumored at one point that fans didn’t take to Mariah Carey, so Idol producers asked Lopez to step in mid-season.

Lopez told TV Guide about returning, "I don't know! When I say, 'I don't know,' people think, 'Oh, she's playing a game.' I'm not.”

She continued, “I really don't know. If it became really real where I had to make a decision, I would have to sit down and really weigh out the options of what my life looks like in the next year to see if I would sign. Because it does take up a lot of time, and I do have a lot of other things going on that I'm super excited about. So we'll see."

She performed on the season finale last night, during which Candice Glover was revealed as the winner. She said she loved being back and loved doing the show in general.

I”t's great to go back and see the old gang [this week]," she said, Digital Spy reports. "I do miss it. I had a great time doing Idol."

As we reported, Jackson has confirmed he’s leaving the show after 12 seasons, sources say Minaj won’t be returning, Keith Urban said he wants to return and the future of Mariah Carey is uncertain.
