Internet celebrity Kai The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker was caught by police in Philadelphia, just hours after he was named the suspect in the murder of a Clark, New Jersey attorney.
As we previously reported, Union County, NJ prosecutor Theodore Romankow said on Thursday that Kai, whose real name is Caleb Lawrence McGillvray, was named as the suspect in the murder of 73-year-old Joseph Galfy Jr. According to the local Patch site, Romankow announced at 6:30 p.m. that McGillvray was found and arrested in Philadelphia at the Greyhound Bus Terminal.
He is going to be charged with homicide and will be send back to New Jersey for a court appearance in the next few days. His bail has already been set at $3 million.
“I am grateful for the overwhelming response and dedicated effort by the public and law enforcement that led to this arrest,” Romankow told the press. “I believe that everyone is a little safer with this person off the streets.”
During a press conference Thursday, Romankow said that McGillvray met Galfy in Times Square, where Galfy picked him up on Saturday, May 11. They drove back to Galfy’s home and McGillvray left for Seaside Heights on Sunday. But, Romankow says that McGillvray came back to Galfy’s home and committed the murder. He left, going to Asbury Park, Philadelphia and Glassboro and actually met with two fans who are now talking to police.
According to ABC7, McGillvray had claimed on his Facebook page Tuesday that a man raped him. He had also told the fans he met with that he was going to Georgia.
