Karina Smirnoff was hospitalized on Sunday after she fell during a rehearsal for Dancing with the Stars and landed on her jaw. Despite this, she still decided to perform on Monday.
Smirnoff and her partner, NFL star Jacoby Jones, were rehearsing a flip when she landed on top of him – landing on her face and twisting her neck.
A source told People she was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to make sure she didn’t have a dislocated jaw or whiplash from the fall.
The professional dancer took to Twitter to confirm that she was at the hospital and admitted she was still “sore.”

Smirnoff is hardly the first dancer or competitor to get hurt on the show, and according to Fox, Dame Nadya and Sir Golden Koscuik, classically trained dancers, offered to teach the cast injury prevention techniques but they declined.
“Dame Nadya and Sir Golden became very concerned last season as they watched DWTS due to not only the celebrities getting hurt, but the dancers also getting injured. They were so concerned that they reached out to a producer of the show, and this producer agreed that help was needed,” a source told Fox News. “The producer met with the couple and felt they could help make sure stars did not get hurt for this new season.”
However, the dancing pros “voted down” this option. The source even said “one male pro in particular, who has a big ego, convinced the other pros they did not need outside help to teach the stars.”
