The devastation left behind by a EF4 tornado in Oklahoma has brought American's together sending prayers and positive thoughts to those affected. President Obama, Country singer Toby Keith, Katie Couric and Nick Lachey are just a handful of the many responses to the devastation which surfaced on social media following the news.
While the death count continues to fluctuate, People reports that at least 24 have been confirmed dead from the tornado. As we previously reported, an elementary school was in the path of the two mile tornado.
“Our prayers are with the people of Oklahoma today,” the president said Wednesday morning.
Obama followed with a link to help donate to those who affected by the devastation.
“My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in OK after today's tornadoes. Scary stuff. #cherisheveryday,” wrote 98 Degrees frontman Nick Lachey.
“My heart is with Oklahoma today. Devastating scenes on the news... praying for families & loved ones to reunite and help to arrive swiftly,” Katie Couric wrote.
According to CNN, some of the teachers at Moore, Ok elementary school helped protect the children by laying on top of them. “I was on top of six kids," one sixth grade teacher confessed. “I was lying on top. All of mine are OK."
One first responder notes, “We have not yet reached the coping state. We still have not processed what has happened."
