Reality TV star Khloe Kardashian has been accused of plagiarism after designing a t-shirt with a logo similar to the one used by New York’s Department of Agriculture in its “Pride of New York” program.
The questionable shirt is part of Kardashian’s clothing line, Rich Soil, which she founded with her husband Lamar Odom back in 2009.
Kardashian was spotted last week sporting the simple white tee with its logo depicting the Statue of Liberty, a trumpet, and three wavy, abstract lines. Included are the words “Rich Soil – New York.”
This image is strikingly similar to the one used by the Dept. of Agriculture’s Pride of New York program which promotes foods grown and processed within the state. The logo for the program depicts the Statue of Liberty, a barn, and three wavy, abstract lines with the slogan “Pride of New York.”
According to the NY Daily News, Governor Andrew Cuomo sent a cease-and-desist letter to Kardashian, demanding that she immediately stop manufacturing and selling the t-shirt on the Rich Soil website.
Kardashian has not yet responded to the impending lawsuit.
Cuomo warned that if she doesn’t address the issue soon, he will pursue legal action against the blatant resemblance to his state’s “Pride” logo.
