LeAnn Rimes reveals that she questioned her self worth after having an affair with Eddie Cibrian, ending both of their marriages.
Rimes tells Us Magazine today she feels better than ever. Rimes is about to release a new album, Spitfire , and feels she has found a devoted and loving husband in Cibrian, who she married in 2011.
"I was feeling all these crazy emotions and feeling terrible about myself and was disgusted by myself and thought I was pathetic," Rimes said of the “emotional roller-coaster” she felt in the wake of the extramarital affair.
To manage her emotions, Rimes checked into an in-patient facility in August of 2012. During her stay, she learned how to deal with anxiety and stress, products of living a life that “has been out there for everyone to judge” since her career began when she was a teenager.
The 30-year-old singer says that writing and recording songs for her new album was helpful and therapeutic.
"I think I opened up the can of worms for myself by writing this record," Rimes told the magazine. "There were a lot of things I didn't even realize I was feeling...I needed to go somewhere and really process all of that stuff."
In processing “that stuff”, mainly her divorce from husband of eight years Dean Sheremet, Rimes came to understand the value of the pain and struggle she was experiencing.
"Sometimes it takes walking through those tough times to come out the other side stronger and wiser," she says, reported by Fox News . "I'm gonna make mistakes as I move on in life, but that's who we are, and I'm fortunate that I've grown a lot and I'm proud of who I am now...it's a good place to be."
