It's official folks- Mariah Carey is officially saying goodbye to American Idol following long-standing rumors that the “Beautiful” diva would not return to the judging panel for a second run.

According to People, Carey made the news official by retweeting a post from her reps which reads, “W/ global success of "#Beautiful" (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol."

Carey's departure follows in the footsteps of AI judging alum Randy Jackson, who publicly announced that he would not return after this season.

Additionally, Carey's leaving also follows reports that Fox wants to revamp the judging panel, which includes firing all four judges as well as Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer of the singing competition.

Idol saw a significant drop in viewers, dropping roughly 10 million of its formerly dedicated fans.

Reports suggest that Fox hopes to bringing on former AI winners to draw back in viewers. Jennifer Hudson is said to be in the midst of negotiations, while Kelly Clarkson, Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken are said to be in the talks of joining as well.
