Phil’s mom Gracie, passes away. The whole family sets out to comfort Phil in this hard time, so they all fly out to Florida with him. As they are there, the family have a few incidences. Phil is given a shoe box that Gracie had left behind for him and the kids. She left Phil a letter stating he wanted him to set his father up with a woman named Annie, that lived a few doors down. Phil refuses saying it is too soon and refuses to get involved in his father’s love life. Claire and Phil take a stroll and as they are walking down the street, Claire leads him to this mystery woman’s house. Claire rings the doorbell and a man answers. Then she asks for the Annie and she comes out. However, it gets awkward because she is clearly with this man. Claire is embarrassed and Phil gave her an I told you so look. As they get home they realize women are already trying to console his dad. Cam overhears they’re conversation about the other Annie, and clarifies that the man with her is her brother. Phil goes to her house and explains the earlier incident and how his mom believed Annie was a good woman for his father. Phil starts talking about how his mom would do crazy things like that. He gets emotional and she hugs him, consoling him.

Gloria arrives to Florida covered in head to toe black. She was trying to hide because she is wanted in the state of Florida for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. She used to live in Florida and her roommate had been running a prostitution business in her business. Since Gloria lived there she was wanted too. Mitch decides to help her and they set out to court. While there Mitch helps a few people who do not have lawyers and he starts getting in this power trip. He exhausted the judge with his speeches and the court room is so hot. By the time it gets to Gloria’s turn she’s not interested in dealing with Mitch. She tells him case is dismissed and Gloria is so happy. Mitch realizes he is happy to be in court again so he tells Cam, he will be quitting his job and going back into the courtroom.

In the box that Gracie left, the kids received something too. Luke received a pocket watch, Haley was given jewelry, and Alex received a lighter. Now, Alex always thought she and Gracie had a great connection. She didn’t understand the whole lighter situation. Each of these gifts came with notes. In Alex’s gift it only said lighter. Until, her grandpa informed her that note could open.

Cam starts exploring the area which is a retirement home. He settles with a group of ladies and they talk about books. Then they play scrabble, until he says one of the ladies cheat. Then he calls them out, one for cheating, the other for eating all the cookies, and the last one for sipping on something she shouldn’t be. Drama follows him, he says.

Jay is introduced to a neighbor and realizes she looks familiar. He then walks up to her and asks her where she is from. He then realizes this lady was his first. He met her a few days before going to war. He starts telling her the story and she vaguely remembers. Then she says she does, she grabs a box of memories. She pulls a couple out and none of those were given to her by Jay. Jay realizes this woman had sent a lot of men off to war. Nothing special here.

The funeral service begins. There is lovely music paying. Alex stands up to give Gracie a few words. However instead of words she uses the lighter to light up fireworks. Turns out the lighter was an actors, he had left it at the restaurant she worked at. She had never taken anything that was not hers, but she decide to take the lighter. A man sees her, and he tells her, your secret is safe with me. She ended marrying that man. Gracie tells Alex she is too much like her. That she needs to break the rules sometimes because something amazing can happen afterwards. Such a funny and emotional episode, A great way to end the season.
