MTV announced today that the 2014 Video Music Awards and MTV Movie Awards have been scheduled for April and August 2014.
The network said that the Movie Awards will take place on Sunday, April 13 around the same time as the 2013 show. This year’s show was hosted by Rebel Wilson and saw The Avengers and Silver Linings Playbook come away with the most awards. The Avengers won the top prize, the Movie of the Year golden popcorn.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the broadcast drew 3.8 million viewers, a 21 percent jump in the 12-34 demographic.
As for the VMAs, the 2014 ceremony will happen on Sunday, Aug. 24, almost exactly a year after the 2013 ceremony, which is scheduled for Aug. 25, 2013. This year’s show will be staged at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the first time in three years that it will be hosted in New York. It was previously hosted at the Radio City Music Hall in 2009.
