NBC has officially ordered a second season of Bryan Fueller'sHannibal.

The Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy starring drama was given the official green-light Thursday, just hours before a new episode is slated to air, Hit Fix reports.

The series, which began airing mid-season, was one of the last shows to be given the go-ahead due to its late airing. Hannibal has been renewed for 13 episodes and will be given a mid-season airing once again.

NBC entertainment Jennifer Stalke released a statement following the news saying, “We’re so proud of Bryan’s vision for a show that is richly textured, psychologically complex, and very compelling. There are many great stories still to be told.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, during its freshman season Hannibal received a 2.0 rating and nearly 4.7 million viewers.

The series focuses on the relationship between Dr. Hannibal Lector (Mikkelsen) and a FBI agent who is concerned about how he can sympathize with serial killers.
