Piers Morgan is set to release a memoir about his time as anchor on CNN entitled, Shooting Straight: Guns, Gays, God and George Clooney .
The memoir, which will be published in October, is written in a diary format, and details Morgan’s views on gun control and his love for the United States.
"Piers Morgan is honest, forthcoming, and fearless. I fully expect 'Shooting Straight' to enlighten some readers and enrage others,” Jennifer Bergstrom, one of Morgan’s publishers, said in a statement about the upcoming publication. New York Daily News quotes Bergstrom labeling Morgan’s book as “thought-provoking” and one she is proud to have published.
Morgan fell into hot water with viewers when he bashed pro-gun advocates in the wake of the Newtown, Connecticut shooting, which left 26 dead. More than 48,000 people signed a petition demanding his deportation.
Morgan has not been shy about his views on gun control, taking to Twitter to express his frustration at the lack of action on the part of legislatures since the Newtown tragedy. In April, after a bill proposing heightened background checks for those purchasing guns failed, Morgan tweeted angrily, "How many schoolchildren have to be murdered next time for Washington to do anything? 50, 100, 1000? Name the number, you cowards. @NRA"
