Prince Harry is spending the rest of this week and part of next week in the U.S., starting things off with two days in Washington D.C. before he tours the devastation left behind by Hurricane Sandy on the Jersey Shore.
The nine-day tour starts in D.C. this afternoon, notes E! News. He’s first going to Capitol Hill to see an exhibition from the HALO Trust, a mine-clearing foundation that his mother, Princess Diana, supported. Tonight, he’ll be at the house of Sir Peter Westmacott, the British ambassador to the U.S., for a speech and dinner.
After a visit to Arlington National Cemetery and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Friday morning, he’ll fly off to Colorado for the weekend. There, he’ll meet with gold medalists from the London Summer Olympics and British athletes taking part in the 2013 Warrior Games. On Sunday, he’ll see a cycling race at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
On Monday, he comes back to the East Coast. According to the New York Daily News, on Tuesday, he and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will tour the damage from Hurricane Sandy. He will end Tuesday with a meeting in New York City to promote British business.
The tour ends with Harry playing polo in Greenwich, Connecticut. The New York Times reports that the match is sponsored by Sentebale, his charity for children in Lesotho. A very small crowd of just 400 invited guests will get to see him.
This is Harry’s first trip since his Las Vegas holiday last year that resulted in the nude photos that leaked after a party. He is not going to Sin City again, at least for now.
