Shots fired at the Cannes Film Festival sent pedestrians running for cover and interrupted an interview with Django Unchained actor Christoph Waltz and Daniel Auteuil.
LA Times reports that an unidentified man was spotted with a gun and another suspicious looking object was spotted at the event where jury members Waltz and Auteuil were in the middle of an interview.
Shortly thereafter, shots were heard which sent patrons running and Waltz to be rushed away by security.
It was later reported that the shots fired where blanks.
Fox News notes that the anonymous shooter shouted that he also had a grenade. An employee working at the Festival spoke on the basis of anonymity called the event “scary.”
Police were quick to detain the man who was arrested after a starter gun, pocket knife and a plastic grenade were found on his person.
There were no reported injuries from the incident. The scary shooting follows reports of $1 million jewelry stolen from Cannes.
