At this years 2013 Billboard Awards, Taylor Swift won 8 out of 11 nominations including Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist and Top Female Artist for her 2012 album Red according to the Billboard Awards website.
This has been a huge year for Swift who released her winning album in October of 2012. The album's first single "We Are Never Getting Back Together" hit the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, a first for the young pop-country star. The album sold 1.21 million copies in its first week alone, making Swift the only woman to have two million-selling weeks according to the Billboard website. By May 2013 the album had sold 5.2 million copies worldwide.
Despite the constant backlash from the media about her love life, Swift has managed to keep her head high. She even managed to sneak in a self-poking joke during her Billboard thank you speech saying,
“To the fans, who come to the shows and buy the albums, I just want you to know this one thing; you are the longest and best relationship I ever had.”
