Contrary to many reports, British actor Tim Curry, 67, didn’t suffer a stroke this Thursday, but rather last July – almost a year ago.

On Thursday, the Daily Mail reported that Curry had suffered a major stroke at his home in Los Angeles, but was “doing great” in his recovery. His agent, Marcia Hurwitz, stifled rumors that the actor had lost his ability to speak.

Shortly after the story broke, the Hollywood Reporter revealed that the timeline of the incident was way off. Curry had long since survived a stroke and is well on his way to recovering from it.

Hurwitz told the news site, “Tim had a stroke last July. He has been going to physical therapy doing very well and still has his great sense of humor. He thanks everyone for sending good wishes."

Curry is a prolific actor best known for his breakout role as the cross-dressing mad scientist, Dr. Frank N. Furter, from the 1975 cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Curry also gave a nightmare-inducing performance as Pennywise the Clown in the film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel It.
