FX network announcement on Thursday, Tracy Morgan has signed onto a new comedy pilot.
The former “Saturday Night Live” and “30 Rock” comedian is to star in “Death Pact.” TV Guide reports, Morgan’s character is a former high school coach who returns home from war as a war hero. Despite also being a marijuana dealer, he helps start up a self-help group, who holds a radical philosophy with “harsh consequences” for failure.
“Needless to say anything starring Tracy Morgan could be off-the-charts hilarious and we’re betting this one is,” said FX’s executive vice president original programming and development Nick Grad. “Rob Long, Tad Safran, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum have delivered a terrific starring vehicle for Tracy. We look forward to casting the other three co-stars and getting started with production. This is going to be fun.”
“Death Pact” is written and created by Rob Long (“Cheers”) and Tad Safrad (“The Long Weekend”), and has the executive producers Kim and Eric Tannenbaum of “Two and a half Men,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The half-hour show will start production this summer in either New York or New Jersey.
