Vogue compiled a list of their picks for best dressed at Monday’s Met Gala, and while Kanye West made the list, his girlfriend Kim Kardashian was not so subtly cropped out.
Last year, the now pregnant Kardashian was left off of the guest list, reportedly at the request of Vogue’s Anna Wintour. But since Kardashian had dinner with Wintour and West the night before the event this year, it was thought whatever bad blood the had had gone away.
It wouldn’t be a stretch that Kardashian wouldn’t make the best dressed list due to the backlash surrounding her floral maternity gown, but the fact that Vogue chose a photo of West’s hand still attached to Kardahian is what is striking.
The Hollywood Reporter notes this shouldn’t come as such a big surprise, as the high fashion community hasn’t exactly embraced the reality star.
When she did a photoshoot with Elle in March with Diesel creative director Nicola Formachetti, he revealed "People wouldn't lend me clothes. But that's fashion snobbery."
Still, Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci stands by the gown he designed for Kardashian and gives her the utmost praise, telling WWD, “I have dressed many pregnant women in the past. People can say what they want. To me, pregnancy is the most beautiful thing in the world, and when you celebrate something, you give people flowers. I think she looked amazing. She was the most beautiful pregnant woman I dressed in my career.”
