The controversial group Westboro Baptist Church has tried to picket seemingly everything and that now includes the funeral of Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman. The family hasn’t even announced funeral arrangements, but the group already sent out a tweet with their plans.
In a tweet on Friday, the group announced plans to sing their version of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train,” reports NME. They directed the tweet to the official Slayer account and even added, “#PartyForSlayer.”
When one person replied, “Also you might want to research next time. Slayer's singer/bass player and former drummer are BOTH PRACTICING CATHOLICS!!,” the group shot back, “Oops! As in #PriestsRapeBoys? Perfect.”
In another tweet, they asked, “Which of your idols will God kill next,” mentioning the death of Kris Kross’ Chris Kelly.
Examiner notes that Slayer fans are already working on ways to drown out the WBC protesters, with one Facebook group suggesting that the surviving Slayer members perform to make it impossible for anyone to hear the WBC message.
The WBC has also picketed at Radiohead and Foo Fighters shows.
Hanneman died on Thursday due to liver failure. He was just 49-years-old. His family has not made funeral arrangements yet, but musicians have paid tribute to Hanneman on Twitter. “Tragic & shocking news about Jeff Hanneman. He is going to missed by so many. What a sad day for Metal. RIP man,” Slash wrote.
