When we were asked to take the Bing It On Challenge, it was the perfect opportunity to profile one of our favorite actresses of the moment, Jennifer Lawrence and share “all there is to love” about the endearing star. Bing gave us images and info about Jennifer that justified our adoration for her.
Bing It On allows you to compare unbranded web search results side-by-side. You select which results you prefer on 5 searches, and then the tool reveals the search engine you liked better. Microsoft doesn’t expect Bing to win every time for every person. That's why they created the tool to help people determine which web searches results are best for them, based on their own personal preference.
1. Her new haircut. Not since Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox got their haircut has a hairdo attracted so much attention. Jennifer debuted her new do at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles and immediately received praise for shoulder-length cut and swept-aside bangs. It's a chic look that works completely well with America's newest sweetheart. What we really liked about the results that Bing provided on the left was that it showed several different photos of both Jennifer's new look and old.
2. Her Oscar appearance. We loved Jennifer in Silver Linings Playbook and were thrilled to see her win the Academy Award, especially considering her competition for the Oscar. The stumble as she made her way up the steps could have been a moment of sheer embarrassment, but Jennifer's endearing personality turned it into a moment of Oscar history that will join the likes of Julia Roberts' beautiful laugh and Sally Field's "You like me" speech. The Bing search results provided all sorts of links to images, video and blog posts about this "historic" Oscar moment.
3. Katniss. There were doubts about her ability to pull of Suzanne Collins' heroine from The Hunger Games - even Jennifer stalled for days before finally accepting the role - but she proved to the world that there is no other actress who could play a character so fiercely independent as Katniss Evergreen. Jennifer exudes Katniss' quiet determination as well as resentment at the government's twisted game, winning over the book's loyal fan base as well as a repeat performance in the upcoming sequel. Bing's search results did an excellent job in providing current and relevant links to the upcoming Hunger Games sequel.
4. Mystique. We wonder what went through Jennifer's head when she landed the part of the shape-shifting villain Mystique in X-Men: First Class. After all, the drop-dead gorgeous supermodel Rebecca Romijn made the character a sex bomb in the earlier X-Men films. The role pushed Jennifer out of her sweet girl next door comfort zone and we can't wait to see her once again in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past. With Bing we were able to pull up dozens of links and images connected to Jennifer's return as Mystique.
5. Her sense of humility. She may be bringing in millions at the box office but her skyrocket to fame hasn't seemed to affect Jennifer's down-to-earth personality. While other young celebrities appear to be self-absorbed, Jennifer has remained humble and approachable. And whereas rumors and stolen private images circulate the Web, Jennifer has successfully separated her private life from her personal one. As she once told the Telegraph: "You don't want your relationship to be in the press, but at the same time, and this is only a theory, the more you try and keep it secret, the more the media tries to crack it open." Searching for "Jennifer Lawrence + fame" on Bing provided plenty of links that confirmed why we love her so much.
Take the Bing It On Challenge yourself (Chris Hemsworth or Channing Tatum, anyone?) and compare unbranded search results side-by-side by to see which you prefer.
