Will Smith's family may be in the public eye, but the After Earth star insists that the group handles fame in a very different way than the TV reality family the Kardashians.

In an interview with New York Magazine, Us Weekly reports, the 44-year-old actor denied any similarities between the two Hollywood families.

When the reporter asked Smith's 14-year-old son, and After Earth costar, Jaden to compare themselves to the Kardashians, his father jumped in before he could respond, saying "You know, he’s never had to, to deal with those kinds of questions."

Will even mimicked the interviewer after the question was re-worded, saying “So how do you think your life is similar or un-similar to people’s names in Calabasas?” before giving an authentic answer, according to the Huffington Post.

The actor explained how fame is not the ultimate goal for he and wife Jada Pinkett Smith and their two kids: Jaden, and 12-year-old Willow.

"For our family, the entire structure of our life, our home, our business relationship -- the entire purpose is for everyone to be able to create in a way that makes them happy," he said . "Fame is almost an inconsequential by-product of what we’re really trying to accomplish. We are trying to put great things into the world, we’re trying to have fun ... So the idea of fame or exploitation or orchestrating the media is sometimes even less than desirable for us."
