The concept of a Wonder Woman series has been around for years, and year after year it fails to get picked up. 2013 has proven to be more of the same, but the CW claims that a series starring the Amazonian Princess is still in the works and under consideration.
According to Entertainment Weekly, while the CW's long time coming origin story of the penultimate comic book heroine, titled Amazon, was not picked up for the coming fall, the series is still under development. A spokesman for the CW said that they wanted to create a series that lives up to the character, and that the princess is possibly the most difficult DC character to tackle.
Newsarama reports that the series was revealed to be in development in September 2012. It was not a front-runner to become a series.
The Huffington Post recounts NBC's failed attempt to create a Wonder Woman series in 2011. Though, the CW's origin story is worlds away from NBC's attempted revival of the hit 1970s series.
