Zach Galifianakis may be known for his role in The Hangover series, but the actor has sworn off alcohol since a drunken incident that left him reeling.
Galifianakis told Conan O’Brien this past week that he has “stopped drinking” after an aggressive encounter in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Galifianakis was walking home after a night of drinking whiskey. The actor became rattled when a Jaguar cut him off as he was trying to cross the street. In retaliation, Galifianakis hit the car as hard as he could with his hand.
"I turn around, it's two huge 6-foot-6 guys [from the Jaguar]," Galifianakis explains, as reported by Us Magazine . "They both, at the same time, spit in my face!"
"I don't know if you've ever been spit in the face non-sexually," Galifianakis jokingly continued to O’Brien, "But all I remember is being so stunned."
Galifianakis was also stunned by the whistling in the theme from The Andy Griffith Show , which inspired him to go into show business. According to NBC News , on Galifianakis’ internet talk show, Between Two Ferns , he told anchor Brian Williams, “I remember being affected by that whistler, thinking I could maybe try to do something like that with my life. Not whistling ... but telling diarrhea jokes."
