Millions of people tuned in to E! on Sunday night to learn the gender of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s baby during the season eight premiere of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The season got off to a strong start in the rating, but more than half of those viewers left when The Wanted Life started.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show drew 3 million viewers in total, which was a 6 percent boost from the 2012 premiere. It was the most-watched premiere in three years and also drew 2 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic.
However, the news about Kim’s baby’s gender was not enough to top some of the bigger moments in the Kardashian family’s lives. The season seven finale, which saw Kourtney give birth, drew 3.6 million viewers and the Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event had over 4 million viewers.

After Kardashians, E! premiered The Wanted Life, a show centered on the British boy band The Wanted. However, no one apparently wanted them enough to watch the show. Zap2It reports that 80 percent of Kardashian’s audience left earning just 600,000 total viewers. That’s even worse than What Would Ryan Lochte Do?’s premiere, which had 807,000 viewers.
Elsewhere on cable Sunday night, AMC’s The Killing returned from cancellation to 1.8 million viewers, the same as its second season premiere, notes The Wrap.
